PRAYER CALENDAR
BALTIC RUSSIAN LANGUAGE TEAM
April 1: "Thus the saying, 'One sows and another reaps is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.'" John 4:37-38. Pray for Daugavpils Central Baptist Church as we begin training in prayerwalking. Ask God to open our eyes to what He has placed before us and to bless us with divine appointments.
April 2: "In him was life, and that life was the light of men." John 1:4. Pray for the adult Bible study in Kraslava, Latvia, each Wednesday night. Those who come have been exposed to a chronological overview of the Bible. As they complete this study, ask the Holy Spirit to bring them to complete faith in Jesus Christ.
April 3: "There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe." John 1:6-7. Pray for Gary, Sheila, and Cathy, that God will continue to give us many contacts with non-Christians, and that through these contacts, we will be able to testify concerning Jesus Christ.
April 4: "From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another." John 1:16. Pray for Daugavpils Central Baptist Church, that our Sunday Bible study time will richly bless those who come. Pray that non-Christians who come will hear and understand the truth and that those who are Christians will grow deeper in their faith. Pray for Gary, that God will bless him with the ability to teach in Russian in a way that all can understand.
April 5: "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:13-14. Pray for two small group evangelistic Bible studies that we hope to begin in late March or early April. One will be in Russian and the other in English. Ask God to open the hearts of those we invite to come and that through the studies they will come to the Living Waters.
April 6: "The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, 'We have found the Messiah' (that is, the Christ)." John 1:41. Pray for the outreach events that we have through Central Baptist Church in Daugavpils. We often have film night or game nights where we invite our non-Christian friends. Ask God to open the hearts of those we invite to come. Pray that we may find favor in their eyes so that they will be open to attending a Bible study or church services.
April 7: "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:40. Pray for the workers in the cafe adjacent to our Christian library. One lady borrowed the Jesus film and now other workers are also watching the film. Some are now watching the God's Story film. Pray that God will use these to stir their hearts. Pray for our continuing relationship with them.
April 8: "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14. Pray for the men who gather each Monday night at the traditional church in Daugavpils for Brothers' School where they do in-depth Bible study. Ask God to bless their time in His Word and to allow them to see His glory, grace, and truth more and more.
April 9: "But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." John 3:21. Pray for the youth who meet at Balta Baznica, the established Baptist church in Daugavpils, each Saturday evening for Bible study. Ask God to prepare the leaders to teach His Word. Pray that God's Word will continue to change their lives and enable them to live by His truth.
April 10: "In tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." John 3:3. Pray for the college students who meet weekly in small group Bible studies led by Braliba, a Christian organization on campus. Many of these students are not Christians. Pray that God will open their hearts to understand the truth they are studying and to give their lives to Christ.
April 11: "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:17. Pray for services at Daugavpils Central Baptist Church on April 12 as we teach about Christ's last Passover. Ask God to increase our love for Him and allow us to understand in greater depth His love for us as we contemplate the sacrifice of Christ. Pray that Christ will enable us to love Him with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength.
April 12: "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." John 6:29. We plan on showing the film "The Passion of the Christ" on April 13 & 15. Pray that those we invite will come and that the Holy Spirit will use this film to bring faith to those who view it.
April 13: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10. Pray for healing of those within our Daugavpils Baptist churches who have scars on their hearts from their childhoods. There are many, many people in Latvia who grow up in broken or dysfunctional homes and have a difficult time understanding God as their Father and His immense love for them. Pray that God's love will bring healing into their lives and abundance.
April 14: "The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it." John 1:5. Pray for future work in the Griva neighborhood of Daugavpils. We would like to start an evangelistic Bible study there in the future. Ask God to give us His wisdom as to how to begin and where to meet. Pray that we will have a willing Russian-language leader to work alongside of us.
April 15: "He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:11-12. Pray for Easter services tomorrow at Daugavpils Central Baptist Church and Daugavpils Baptist Church (Balta Baznica). Ask God to draw many people to these services. Many Russian speakers consider that they are God's people because of their cultural Orthodox faith. Pray that all will come to realize that we must have our own personal relationship with Christ.
April 16: "No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known." John 1:18. Pray for the children who come weekly to the Bible study in Kraslava, Latvia. They have their own lesson independent of the adults. Pray that they will come to see Jesus Christ and His Father as they listen to the lessons and that they will come to personal faith in Jesus.
April 17: "'My food,' said Jesus,' is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Do you not say, Four months more and then the harvest? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.'" John 4:34-35. Pray for a multilingual church planter (Russian and Latvian languages) to work alongside of us in Daugavpils. God keeps placing Latvian language speakers in our path. We studied only Russian. Ask God to bring to Daugavpils a person that can work in both languages to establish both Russian and Latvian language churches.
April 18: "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35. We plan on beginning an outreach bible study using "The Purpose Driven Life." Pray that those we invite will come and that the Holy Spirit will use this to cause them to reflect on their owns lives and God's purposes for them. Pray that they will be drawn to the Bread of Life.
April 19: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16. Pray for the small group of believers that meet each Sunday in Silene, Latvia. Ask the Holy Spirit to open the hearts of non-believers to complete faith in Jesus Christ. Pray for Volera who leads this group, that he will have wisdom in leading the group. Pray also that more people in Silene will be draw to the group so that they may hear the good news of salvation.
April 20: "For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it." John 5:21. Pray for the Friday night home Bible study group that meets in the Peervamaika neighborhood of Daugavpils. This is an outreach of the established Baptist church. Both believers and non-believers attend. Ask God to work faith in the hearts of those who don't know Him and to strengthen the faith of those who are already His. Pray also that God will continue to add to this group.
April 21: "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, 'Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!.'" John 1:29. Pray for the Christian teachers' conference that will be held in Riga on April 22-23. There are usually several hundred teachers who come from all across Latvia. Many are Christians, but there are also those who come who consider themselves Christians because of their inherited faith. Ask the Holy Spirit to open their eyes to see, their ears to hear, and their hearts to understand personally what Jesus Christ offers freely to them.
April 22: I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit." John 3:5. Pray again for the Christian teachers' conference in Riga. Pray especially for the non-Christians, that they will turn to Jesus Christ in repentance and accept the gift of salvation. Pray for the speakers, that they will clearly explain the gospel.
April 23: "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." John 4:23. Pray for the group of Christians who will meet together from all across Latvia on April 24-26 for prayer days. This is a non-denominational event and includes both Russian and Latvian speakers as well as missionaries. Pray that those who come will unite together in prayer for the nation and that God will answer those prayers by bringing revival to this nation.
April 24: "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working." John 5:17. We have a newly elected bishop of the Latvian Baptist Union. His desire is to see 100 new churches started in 10 years. Pray that his vision will become the vision of many in the union. Ask God to open the eyes of Christians across this nation to see where He is at work and to join Him in what He is doing to bring the people of Latvia to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
April 25: "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:44. Pray for the church in Rokiskis, Lithuania. Ask God to reveal to them where He is at work and to enable them to effectively reach out with the good news of the Gospel. Pray that the church will grow through the power of the Holy Spirit.
April 26: "Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me." John 6:45. Pray for our continuing relationships with public school and university teachers. Ask God to give us discernment in these relationships and to show us how and when to effectively share the gospel with them. Pray that the Holy Spirit will prepare their hearts to listen.
April 27: "I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God." John 1:34. Pray for the Baptist church in Dagda, Latvia. Ask God to increase their witness in the community so that many more may hear the gospel proclaimed and see a clear witness of lives lived for Christ. Pray that those who come and are believers will actively share their faith.
April 28: "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life." John 3:14-15. Pray for a future church in the Peervamaika region of Daugavpils. There are about 20,000 people who live in this block area. Only a tiny fraction of them have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Ask God to show us His time and give us wisdom to know how to start. Pray for a suitable, neutral place to meet. Pray also for a leader for the group, a Russian speaker to work alongside of us.
April 29: "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." John 5:24. Pray for God to bring more men to Daugavpils Central Baptist. As they come, ask God to open their hearts in faith to Jesus Christ.
April 30: "Jesus gave them this answer: 'I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.'" John 5:19. As Daugavpils Central Baptist Church has begun, God keeps putting Latvian language speakers in our path. It seems to us that He has plans for a Latvian language church start here. Pray that God will give us His wisdom and discernment and show us how to proceed.
